Paven burde sett hva som ville komme. Og spørsmålet er ikke om han har rett eller ikke, for følgene etter talen, med opptøyer og vold, har vist at han hadde et poeng. Spørsmålet er om paven er forstandig nok til å håndtere vår tids største konflikt på en måte som både klargjør og som demper.

Pope apologises to Muslims
Pope Benedict XVI said on Sunday he was sorry about the way "fragments of my speech were received" by the Muslim world.
The Pope sparked international Islamic outrage after citing remarks' earlier in the week' by a medieval theologian that Islam has brought nothing good to the world.
His efforts to end the controversy came as Muslim anger erupted into violence.
Over the weekend, six churches in the West Bank were attacked and an effigy of the Pope was burnt by a crowd in Kashmir and a nun was shot dead in Mogadishu.
The crisis could lead to the cancellation of the Pope's upcoming visit to Turkey.
